Registration - $50

Join us for a class rooted in the tradition of fiber arts and learn to spin your very own yarn.
Each person will receive a C D spindle and plenty of wool cleaned and ready to spin.  After a brief demonstration and explanation, we'll start out with the "park and spin" method. This is an easy slow-motion way to appreciate what's happening with the yarn. When you're ready, the hanging spindle method will come easily. Later in the session, Genie will demonstrate and discuss plying (doubling) the yarn.
Join us for a fun, no pressure class and expand your fiber knowledge.

Meet Your Instructor - Genie Greenlaw

At 7 or 8 years, our Mum gave me an introduction to the fiber art world via knitting lessons. Later in life, I taught myself to crochet. After a comprehensive weaving course at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, I continued weaving tapestry up through the present day. The inspiration never stopped, and I occasionally wove fabric for shawls and blankets.  In the early 90s, one of our fiber art guild members showed us how to spin with a drop spindle. That became my second favorite thing to do.
