Create a charming gourd birdhouse for your feathered friends. The possibilities are endless with gourd art! Learn all about cleaning, hole sizes for cavity-nesting songbirds, and various types of finishes and ways to hang them. Take home your very own hand-crafted birdhouse. Hang it in your yard or make a meaningful gift for a friend. This class is designed for beginners. No prior experience is needed.
All supplies are included, but participants should bring an apron or wear clothing you can get dirty.
Judi Fleming - Gourd Artist
Judi Fleming has been doing gourd art for nearly 30 years using this versatile vegetable. She has taught gourd art and crafts all along the east coast, won numerous best of show awards in gourd festivals, fairs and juried art show. She is currently the President of the North Carolina Gourd Society and 1st Vice President of the American Gourd Society as well as a member of the Southeastern Civilian Living Historians, a non-profit organization dedicated to research, education, and accurate portrayal of civilians in all eras from the 17th, 18th, 19th, and early to mid-20th century through workshops and living history events.
