Salt Making Class - June 11

Learn the history and art of salt making at Hart Square Village. This half-day class will include lessons on building a fire, making salt, packaging salt, and preserving food. Jim is a resident of Saltville, Virginia, and will teach the history of the pioneers and the different techniques they used to survive. Leave with a deepened knowledge of salt craft and your very own jar of handmade salt.
Jim brings life to the history of salt-making and the Appalachian mountain people through incredible descriptions and hands-on demonstrations. Jim has been a living history reenactor for the past 30 years and is a resident of Virginia where he specializes in salt making and teaching about Appalachain history. He has also been featured on the history channel show "Mountain Men".
Tickets sold may be refunded prior to 10 business days from the ticketed event.
