As funding landscapes shift, will it be possible to preserve the past for future generations?

Once open to the public one time per year, Hart Square Village has experienced significant growth in mission-driven programming and visitorship.  The preservation of the 103 historic structures that comprise the open-air museum is paramount as the crafts, trades, and practices of the region are now shared year-round.  From welcoming students on field trips…to passing knowledge and skills through preservation workshops…to inviting children to attend immersive events free-of-charge, the lifelong learning that takes place at Hart Square is only possible thanks to the generosity people like you.

Federal funding cuts in the areas of history and art place the historic village at risk and make the future of sharing the region’s vibrant folklife uncertain.  As we navigate the shifting funding landscape, your support is needed now more than ever.  From demonstrating and teaching traditional crafts and trades, to sharing cultural heritage through music, dance, and foodways - you make it possible to preserve and share cultural heritage.

I hope we can count on your support as we look ahead to the future, a future where our community rallies behind history, traditional art, and culture.  With you by our side, the future of Hart Square is bright.  Your support allows for the ongoing preservation of Hart Square Village and the continued growth in visitorship and programming, including immersive experiences and lifelong learning opportunities.

Together, we are preserving the past for future generations.

Currently, Hart Square is not expanding its collection. We cannot accept donations of good and items to the museum at this time.
