Welcome to the wonderful world of broom-making! This class will introduce you to the ages old skill of tying whisk brooms. We will endeavor to tie at least three brooms -- a whisk, a cake tester/pot scrubber, and an Appalachian style broom called the "Turkey Wing." Along the way, we'll celebrate the universal practice of broom-making and have fun learning a new skill that you can use to make useful objects for your self, as well as gifts for others!

Please note: some upper body strength is required (wrists, forearms, shoulders). If you have any questions about modifications and accessibility, please ask to speak with the instructor.

Rebecca Juliette-Deux

Rebecca Juliette-Duex was first introduced to the value of craft by her grandparents. As a child, she watched their hands sew, saw, and shape objects out of practical necessity. They inspired her to study fiber art and furniture, and to pursue craft as a personal necessity. A multidisciplinary artist, Rebecca employs weaving, woodworking, and broom making to tell the story of her own creative heritage and inspire others to do the same. A champion of craft for all, she places equal value on personal practice, community engagement, and education.

Class registrations are non-refundable, except in the event that Hart Square cancels the class.
