Kids K-4th will enjoy playing these folk instruments, learning about them, and taking home a musical experience only gained by hands-on experiences as this activity offers. Folk Instruments for Kids is a highly structured activity with hands-on and sit-down sessions.

- Limberjack
- Log Drum
Our "Big-little classes" are designed to be an opportunity for an adult and a child to attend together and bond through historic folkways and crafts.
Instructor - Alan Darveaux
Mr. Alan Darveaux retired special education teacher, dulcimer builder/player, woodworker, visual artist, and band leader in Slight Departure, has put together a fascinating approach to involving kids in the lore and lure of folk instruments. Presented
in this program are the Hammer Dulcimer, Appalachian Dulcimer, Washtub Bass, Log Drum, shakers and Limber Jacks. Featured is the "Dulcidoor" engaging six kids at a time to play. All who play the "Dulcidoor" young and not so young get to sign it.
